About the role
Position Objective
The Region Chair is responsible for providing leadership to the committee and encouraging an environment in which all committee members can operate effectively. The chair provides guidance to the Special Olympics region and identifies its short-term and long-term goals. The Chair is responsible for ensuring the effective management of the organisation, ensuring the policies and procedures are implemented.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and host regular Region Committee meetings. This includes setting the agenda, chairing meetings and ensuring minutes are recorded and distributed.
- Represent the Region Committee to external parties
- Represent the Region Committee to the State Committee and State Office
- Attend Special Olympics competitions and events
- Provide leadership when problems arise.
- Be responsible for working with those involved to resolve issues of conflict.
- Oversee the renewal of the Region’s accreditation and licensing which occurs every two years.
