The Arise Mentor program is running in three secondary schools in Melbourne’s north in Eltham, Diamond Valley and Whittlesea.
Your mentoring will help students by:
- Improving their attitude to life and family.
- Supporting their social and emotional development.
- Increasing their classroom engagement resulting in higher learning outcomes.
- Building their confidence to stay away from alcohol and drugs.
Activities you can look forward to enjoying with students include:
- Board games
- Arts and crafts
- Field trips
- Gardening
- Attending football matches
- Cooking/baking
- Shopping
- Bowling, roller-skating and other outdoor activities.
Time commitment:
- 1-2 Hours per month, November 2011 – December 2012.
- Training and induction to commence 7 November 2011.
- Program to commence 10 November 2011.
- Program completion 9 December 2012.
Requirements:
Volunteers must attend the training and induction session on 7 November 2011.
Volunteer’s must be in possession of or be willing to complete a Working With Children’s Check and National Police Check - Mission Australia will assist volunteers with these free of charge.
