Membership Manager

The Australian Association of Holistic and Transpersonal Counsellors Inc.  (AAHTC)

The AAHTC is a Professional Association of  psychotherapists trained to employ therapeutic methods that address our human potential for healing and integration on multiple levels.  These include the mental, emotional, embodied, social, cultural and spiritual dimensions of our lived experience.

We currently have approx. 250 members drawn from the graduates of a small number of training organisations who meet our particular training standards.  The association's income comes predominantly from annual membership fees and is currently around $17,000 p.a.

Administrative functions of the Association are largely managed through various modules of the Wild Apricot membership management software system with Paypal financial integration, resulting in an essentially paperless membership administration.

The AAHTC is registered with Centrelink as a not-for-profit community organisation and an approved provider of volunteer positions that qualify under their 'looking for work' test.

The Executive Committee 

The Executive is comprised of volunteer AAHTC members who provide strategic direction and perform individual executive managerial tasks. Under legislation revised in 2012, the legal responsibilities of Committee members has been both increased and made more explicit. Members must be able to carry out their duties with due care, diligently and free from any conflict of interest.

At the present time, the AAHTC Executive is planning for the near-term retirement of a long time member who has performed a number of functions critical to the operation of the Association, including the Membership Manager function. This is therefore a time of change and renewal, offering an exciting opportunity to have a significant impact.

The Membership Manager role

Applicants should:

• Ideally have experience or an interest in  the mental health or allied/alternative health professions
• Be completely comfortable and confident operating within a cloud-based live internet environment
• Be able to commit to a to two-year appointment with the possibility of a continuing position
• Have daily internet access in order to receive membership applications and email enquiries
• At critical moments be able to give a high priority to the affairs of the Association

Duties

Training will be provided by the current Membership Secretary with progressive transfer of responsibilities and aim to fully transfer control within 6 months.  At which time the successful applicant should be able to undertake the following:

• Use the Wild Apricot membership management software to process new membership applications and annual membership renewals
• As required, load AAHTC approved workshops into the Events module of the membership management software
• Respond promptly to members' email and phone enquiries
• Contribute to the executive and strategic management as an Officer of the  Association.
