General Manager

Water 4 a Purpose is a newly founded charitable trust which was launched in February 2011 and operates as a social enterprise selling bottled water to Corporations in Australia. All of the profits are used to pay for water projects principally in Africa and Asia Pacific region.

We are looking for a part time experienced General Manager (1 day a week)  to assist with the development of the business. This is an exciting role to have considerable input into a new pioneering organisation seeking to make a difference to world poverty and the opportunity to develop new product lines in the future.

Reports to:         Chairman and Founder Jane Johnson

Liaises with:       Sales Manager, Sales Team, Virtual Assistant, Advisory Board,

Location:            All work is done virtually from own home
                            Access to internet and email on a daily basis vital.

Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                        % Time

• Supervise work of Operations Manager                                                                       30%
• Back up to Operations Manager in following up
  contacts to get order                                                                                                 10%
• Vision/product development and participating
  in board meetings (once every 3-4 months) Inc.                                                           40%
  1.            Developing new suppliers
  2.            Finding beneficiaries that are involved in
                  evangelism
  3.            Ideas to grow profit margin
  4.            Networking
  5.            Growing the public profile of the organisation
                  (PR support available)
                  Finding additional volunteers                                                                      20%

Competencies

• Strong Management and marketing experience
• Good co-ordination and communication skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and confidence closing a sale
• Good interpersonal skills and team player with pleasant working manner
• Heart for Making a Difference to World Poverty
• Desirable- Strongly networked and Practising Christian
