The idea to form Social Enterprise Consulting ( SEC ) came from two distinct sources. One was to respond to the increasing awareness of Triple Bottom Line Accountability and Corporate Social responsibility ( CSR ). Many corporations now wish to include a statement of their CSR in their annual reports. In the USA there has been a trend where capitalisation and share prices have increased as a result of public statements about CSR by listed companies. The second source is to produce revenue to provide additional employment opportunities as well as resources for people with disabilities within our own corporate family group namely, Cumberland Industries Limited ( CIL ) which is one of the largest Disability Business Services in Australia ( www.cumbind.com.au ). This puts SEC in a unique position being able to offer consultancy services to other Business Service Providers as well as to industry at large. The essence of SEC is its register of highly experienced and highly credentialed consultants. Our consultants are experts in their respective fields. We are providing a broad range of expertise relevant to both corporate and government needs. SEC has developed an attractive remuneration formula applicable to our consultants and to SEC rewarding the services provided as well as the SEC social objectives. In a word, 25% of gross fees received goes directly to the disability factors mentioned above. We believe that our consultancy will be attractive to those organisations who wish to make an overt statement about their Triple Bottom Line and Corporate Social Responsibility to their stakeholders. Our clients are assured that their contribution to CSR will be evidenced by a formal certificate on conclusion of each assignment. In addition, they will be supported by agreement, with their public relations activities to ensure due recognition by stakeholders. We are in fact offering a tangible alternative to direct charitable donations ie social philanthropy. In many cases shareholders are not in accord with direct donations being made by Boards or Management. This 'Social Enterprise' approach ensures that your contribution is based upon commercial viability to make a contribution to the community. Due to the overwhelming success of its unique consulting formula, SEC will finally be launched on 27th October 2005, some significant time after its inception. We have already completed major assignments around the world, and have built our register of consultants to an impressive level, much to the acclaim of clients to date. The launch will be held at the Headquarters of Baker & McKenzie, a global legal firm and will be chaired by their Chairman.
