About
CTCs use technology as a platform for programs and services, internet access points, training, venue hire, telework opportunities, and economic and community development. The Community Technology Centres Association is a member-based peak organisation for Community Technology Centres. It manages network-wide activities and supports individual CTC activities with business planning, growth, marketing, resources and access to mutual aid. As an incorporated body, the CTC Association can act as a project manager and co-coordinator for All or a selection of CTCs, managing program implementation, quality control and reporting, and financial management and reporting, to guarantee quality service and delivery. We can be your business answer in regional communities as we work in and with these communities and understand their requirements.
Examples of work
Our CTC network offers: - A dependable distribution channel and delivery arm to regional towns in NSW due to our geographic reach. - Cost effective services for skills training and community programs using technology as a platform. - Effective communications channel for delivery of services to specific demographics, harnessing local knowledge to assist our clients and funding bodies. - Responsive solutions to regional community capacity building, providing services specific to community needs. Each individual CTC knows their area, the community, local media and local socio and economic environment. We are flexible, innovative and professional, plus we believe and implement constant evaluation and improvement. In 2008, 37 Community Technology Centres ran a total of 197 training sessions for seniors. 1626 seniors attended programs in CTCs, 453 of whom were computer beginners. There are over 1220 volunteers within the network. Of this, 415 are representatives on management committees. We estimate 2700 first time computer users were trained in a CTC in the last financial year. 154 volunteers in 24 centres gained employment from volunteering at a CTC.
