Examples of work
CALD Service Access project
A research project was conducted by DADHC (Dept. of Ageing, Disability and Home Care), Charles Sturt University and CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Clients) community representatives that was completed in 2005. The purpose of the research was to determine access to HACC services, the service provision and to explore barriers to access to HACC services for members of the CALD Community. A recommendation of this study was to appoint a worker to address the identified issues around access in Albury Wodonga.
This project is to work with HACC (Home and community care) funded agencies and others in Albury and Wodonga to:
- raise awareness of services to CALD communities
- work in consultation with agencies to increase engagement of CALD clients
- raise cultural awareness and knowledge with staff and service providers
- identify barriers for access to services for clients and agencies
- identify training needs
- identify resource needs, and
- develop a resource tool identifying which agencies provide services, information and supports to CALD clients in the Albury Wodonga area to assist all workers.
Volunteering Way2Go project
This project was funded by the Department of Planning and Community Development (formerly Dept. of Victorian Communities through the Volunteer Support Grants program). This is a collaborative project between the Albury Wodonga Volunteer Resource Bureau and the Upper Hume Primary Care Partnership Group.
The aims of the project are to:
- Increase the engagement of volunteers in agencies and build out combined capacity to support volunteers in out organisations and across the communities in the Indigo, Towong and Wodonga.
- Streamline and develop good practices in protocols and processes, investigate and implement a generic volunteer management tool, build opportunities for sharing/portability of volunteers with recognised and shared competencies, increase the opportunity and diversity of people volunteering.
- Increase recruitment and extend opportunities for volunteers to grow as individuals in lifelong learning and connection to their local community, providing a valued outcome to both the individual and the community in which they live or volunteer.
