Leadership Roles for New Charity Regulator Set to Be Announced

The major leadership roles in the newly established Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), are expected to be announced in mid-February after a recruitment drive that is said to have produced a field of high calibre candidates.

Susan Pascoe, the Interim Commissioner and Head of ACNC Implementation Taskforce said the Director roles in the ACNC are important leadership roles in the areas of policy and education, compliance monitoring and assurance, legal, registration, advice and business services and communications and we have been gratified by the very strong fields of candidates.

“We are also very grateful for the support from the NFP sector as we have a representative from the sector on each interview panel," Pascoe said. 

The ACNC received 90 applications for the top roles of Director. The successful candidates are expected to be announced by the Federal Assistant Treasurer, Mark Arbib in mid- February.

The recruitment is happening in four phases for the 95 staff in the new regulator which will be based in Melbourne.

Pro Bono Australia News understands that a high profile Not for Profit lawyer is one of the successful candidates.

Pascoe said that there is a separate recruitment drive for the positions of Commissioner for the ACNC and members of the Advisory Board. “These roles will be independently managed by Treasury, and will be advertised in the daily press incoming weeks.”
