$1 Million Funding for Homelessness Program

The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation has announced it will extend its funding of The Salvation Army’s ‘24/7 Melbourne’s Road Home’ homelessness program.

The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation will provide a further $1 million for the program as part of its commitment to reducing homelessness in Melbourne.

First launched in November 2009, ‘24/7’ assists people experiencing homelessness in Melbourne’s CBD. Any person can call the ‘24/7’ hotline phone number to either ask for help or to alert The Salvation Army’s outreach response team to a person they believe is requiring assistance.

More than 300 people have been assisted by the program in the past 18 months, with 3120 calls received by the outreach response team from people calling the hotline.

The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation will provide the program with $1,000,000 over two years.
