About Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation

The Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation (BAC) is one of Australia’s oldest outstation resource agencies, established in its original form in 1974 to support those people who chose to live on their clan estates in Arnhem Land, rather than in the government settlement of Maningrida. About Maningrida

Maningrida is situated on the Central Arnhem Land coast of the Arafura Sea at the mouth of the Liverpool River, approximately 500 km east of Darwin. The town is accessible in the Dry Season by road; there are two flights daily from Darwin and a freight service by barge, twice weekly. Maningrida is the administrative and service centre for 32 Homelands (outstations) within 10,000 square km of Arnhem Land. The total community population of approximately 3,500 includes the homeland and non-indigenous residents.

The town is a secluded paradise, great for keen fishermen and those looking to learn about Aboriginal art and culture. It is well resourced with an arts centre, swimming pool, school and two supermarkets.
