About the role
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER- Brisbane
Small, enduring, tightly-run professional NFP business with energetic Board & strong support base seeking entrepreneurial, business-savvy leader.
- Leadership challenge for CEO skilled in getting big returns from limited resources
- Nonprofit interests/experience + great commercial record most acceptable
- Package is negotiable with part time hours an option
Almost 40 years since it was begun by concerned volunteers, this intrepid support organization has gone from strength to strength in its determination to help Queenslanders afflicted by a number of neuromuscular disorders.
Offering information, care services, personal support and equipment, it enriches the quality of life for its members and their families.
Primarily self-funded, this is a small nonprofit that has always punched above its weight. With a close ‘family style’ culture, it’s well run, tightly managed and backed by an enthusiastic Board. Thanks to a strong support base, it has ‘soldiered-on’ over the years to outstay many other organisations that have succumbed to overwhelming change.
But now, with NDIS and other legislative forces shifting the very landscape in which it sits, size matters. So, it’s finally time to call in a new, explicitly skilled CEO with the passion, dedication and commercial nous to develop a new business model that will better serve new and existing members.
To become this new leader, you need to be a compassionate and trustworthy professional manager with acute financial acuity, an entrepreneurial spirit, pragmatic creativity, a big heart and an eye to the main chance.
A proven and intrepid ‘doer’ with the measure of contemporary fundraising practices, you have the lateral approach and the originality necessary to turn ideas to advantage in the development of improved member services and sustainable new sources of income.
Ideally with a background in commercial and nonprofit enterprise – used to working with Boards and perhaps with some knowledge of membership organisations – you come with a clear idea on how a small business should be run if it’s to grow and prosper in today’s (nonprofit) markets.
With a strong focus on the bottom line, you nevertheless have superb soft skills and a gentle style of leadership that consistently inspires others to want to join you in all your endeavours
While full time dedication and advocacy is a given, part-time working hours is an option we can talk about.
