About the role

VACRO is a non-government, non-denominational organisation providing support and information for individuals charged with a criminal offence, offenders, and their families. VACRO also provides leadership, education, training and research on the justice system for the community.

The Opportunity

Your case management expertise is required to work with offenders with complex needs subject to post-sentence supervision pursuant to the Serious Sex Offenders (Detention Supervision) Act 2009. Apply your understanding of complex issues related to sexual offending, ageing and mental health. Your ability to work autonomously, think on your feet and problem solve are integral to this role.

A recent graduate with a relevant tertiary qualification may be considered for this role in a trainee capacity.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or other relevant field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues relating to offenders, ex-offenders and their families, including the impact of the incarceration of a family member is highly regarded.
  • Experience in direct service provision of information and support services within the justice system is highly regarded.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and record maintenance skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A willingness to work within the Victorian Justice System with socially disadvantaged clients.
  • A current Driver’s Licence.
  • A National Police Check.
