Vision Australia has an exciting fixed term full time opportunity available for a Paediatric Occupational Therapist / Service Engagement Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary team. The successful applicant will work from our Townsville office primarily supporting the Northern Queensland region as required

This role is to provide specialist knowledge and skills to deliver assessment; independent living skills training and intervention strategies; recommendations; reports and service coordination for clients in order to assist in achieving equity and access for children who are blind or have low vision. 

The successful applicant will be required to possess the following qualification and registration:

  • Approved qualifications in Occupational Therapy as recognised by the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists
  • Current registration with Australia Health Practitioners Regulatory agency.

The successful applicant will also have strong service delivery expertise and networks. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of communication, organisational and planning skills, a person-centred approach, and have an understanding of issues relating to low vision and blindness. This is a unique opportunity which will provide rich and insightful experience to enhance your skills and progress your career

This position is to also engage with participants and assist them to achieve their goals and aspirations. This involves engaging with a number of internal and external stakeholders, including service users, the National Disability Insurance Agency, My Aged Care, health services and community based organisations. Through promoting Vision Australia services and establishing strong partnerships, this role will deliver effective customer service, while maximising revenue opportunities. This role will create and nurture strong linkages between the NDIA and Vision Australia, as well as other relevant stakeholders.
