About the role
VCOSS is the peak body of the community sector in Victoria. It raises awareness of the existence, causes and effects of poverty and disadvantage. VCOSS is a unique membership based organisation with a rich history in social justice advocacy in Victoria.
The Communications Manager is a newly created position that reports directly to the CEO. The Communications Manager will be responsible for the management of the communications portfolio including the line management of communications staff, the oversight of publications, media, IT, website and the ongoing strategic communications advice to the CEO. A key priority of the position is the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication strategy that address the needs of the Strategic Plan 2015-2018.
The successful candidate will work with VCOSS members to amplify their stories with integrity and sensitivity. They will have extensive knowledge and experience in communication management and will maintain strong relationships with media organisations and personnel.
Excellent written, interpersonal and organisational skills are also critical to this role. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience is required. This position is full time. VCOSS offers a number of flexible work conditions to help staff to achieve work-life balance. Salary and conditions of employment are governed by the Victorian Council of Social Service Enterprise Agreement 2014 and VCOSS policies and procedures.
