About the role

Goodstart Early Learning has a unique opportunity for a Child and Family Practitioner to join our Social Inclusion team in Mernda on a 2 years part time (22.8 hours per week) fixed term contract.

The Child and Family Practitioner, in partnership with the centre director and educators will work to engage and support all children, but especially focus on closing the gap for  most vulnerable children and families that attend Goodstart Early Learning services.

To be successful in this position it is essential you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, infant mental health or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of child development (birth – 5 years)
  • Good understanding of relevant early childhood frameworks and standards
  • Strong understanding and ability to apply attachment theory and trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication, negotiation and coaching skills including the ability to consult with relevant staff, teams and professionals to achieve improved outcomes for children and families
  • Ability to document, analyse and report on relevant key performance indicators
  • Maintain a high level of ethical and professional behaviour, including preserving the confidentiality of children, families and organisations.

In addition it is also desired that you have:

  • A knowledge of the service system including family support agencies and allied health services
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting the professional development of others
  • Experience working in the child protection, mental health or allied health field
  • Training in Circle of Security Parenting, Bringing Up Great Kids or similar parenting program and Marte Meo
  • Experience in using and analysing videos as a reflective practice tool for continuous improvement.

Salary package will be commensurate with experience.
