Chief Operating Officer

The Organisation

The Old Colonists Association of Victoria provides elderly Victorians with a safe and affordable home and ongoing care. Currently they have 4 sites, housing nearly 500 residents and over 150 staff. Their unique, community village style accommodation offers dignified living and both a happy place to live and work.

To assist more elderly Victorians the OCAV has ambitious plans to expand their current services. With a commitment to both innovation and quality they will build on and beyond their current sites, position themselves as an employer of choice and strengthen their relationships within the community.

The Role

This is a new position playing a vital role in managing the OCAV’s business operations and key internal stakeholders during a time of change. You will report to and work closely with the CEO to deliver key strategic projects, deputising where necessary and leading a team of direct reports. You will;

  • Manage the independent and assisting living operations with oversight of property management, resident coordination and the recruitment and engagement of volunteers
  • Lead on service monitoring, budget reviews, risk and emergency management and OHS
  • Implement strategies and business plans for major projects such as capital works, stakeholder engagement and the improvement of staff culture
  • Effectively manage the OCAV’s key internal stakeholders; staff, residents and their families
  • Manage a team of staff including recruitment, supervision and managing the development and implementation of their work plans

Skills Required

This role would be suited to a strategic Operations Manager with experience in property management, construction and admissions. As a senior Manager you will have successfully lead teams and managed diverse stakeholder groups, where you have demonstrated excellent communication skills fostering collaboration.

Ideally your experience will come from managing complex projects within an aged care organisation or NGO.
