About the role
Are you a dynamic and strategic leader who is committed to promoting the rights of children in Australia and across the world?
Established in 1966, UNICEF Australia promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, especially the most disadvantaged, in everything it does. It does this by protecting and promoting the rights of children throughout the world in accordance with UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments, UNICEF Australia advocates for changes and improvements at both government and community level to ensure that all children can reach their full potential by having access to their full rights. The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals presents new opportunities for UNICEF Australia to create lasting change for children at home and abroad by ensuring their rights are promoted and protected by Australian institutions.
Accountable to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead UNICEF Australia in developing and delivering the organisation’s vision, mission, strategic objectives and operational plans to advance the rights of children. The CEO will also represent and work to raise the profile of UNICEF Australia with policy makers, opinion formers, supporters, the media, the public, and within the global UNICEF family.
With accountability for integrated leadership and outcomes across fundraising, policy, advocacy and programs, brand and communications, people and culture, governance and operational management, and the relationship of UNICEF Australia with the global UNICEF organisation; the CEO will be a values-driven, inspiring leader with proven experience of shaping strategy and delivering outstanding operational results in a complex stakeholder context. The
successful candidate will bring exceptional communication and ambassadorial skills and will demonstrate alignment with UNICEF’s mandate and mission. Candidates will also have experience working within a complex organisation (international experience would be an asset), and bring the requisite skills and experience to become an exceptional advocate for UNICEF’s work for children.
The role will be based in Sydney, Australia. The salary package will be competitive and negotiable depending on experience.
