Wesley Children, Youth and Family Services support children and young people who, through no fault of their own, can no longer live with their families. We also support young people who need community support, but who do not require protective care.
We are seeking an experienced and committed team player to join our innovative Foster Carer Recruitment and Support Program.
About the role
This exciting opportunity is a varied role which involves event management, audit and quality compliance through to carer support, extensive report writing and conducting comprehensive interviews.
The key objectives of the role are to:
- Develop the Home Based Care Recruitment, Training and Support Portfolio and create further opportunities to improve the effectiveness and outcomes of the home based care program;
- Recruit new caregivers through undertaking carer recruitment drives, training and assessing potential caregivers and present assessment reports to the Accreditation Panel;
- Implement regular support initiatives via communication strategies, training, social and educational activities;
- Assist with planning and implementation of training and resources to assist, educate, up-skill and encourage caregivers in their role in conjunction with the Manager;
- Undertake Carer Supervision, Annual Reviews, Home and Environment Checks
- Undertake audit compliance, quality assurance and continual updating of carer files and databases to ensure DHS and Wesley Policies and Procedures are met
- Provide induction to carers within Wesley Mission Victoria’s (WMV) and Department of Human Services (DHS) policies and procedures.
About you
You are a dynamic and self-motivated person and have a genuine commitment and passion to engage with volunteers, more specifically foster carers of children and young people.
To excel in this role you will possess the following essential role requirements:
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Demonstrated experience working with foster carers and a passion to support and care for foster carers and their families
- Flexibility to work weekends and weeknights
- A passion for the welfare industry and experience working in the Home Based Care sector
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of the Home Based Care sector
- Excellent assessment, report writing and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably in Social Work
