About the role

SEMPHN was established with the key objectives of:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and
  • Improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

The SEMPHN will achieve our objectives by working directly with general practitioners, other primary health care providers, secondary care providers and hospitals to ensure improved outcomes for patients.

The six key priorities of SEMPHN are mental health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, population health, health workforce, eHealth and aged care.

The SEMPHN stretches from St Kilda to Sorrento to Bunyip, including the major population hubs of Clayton, Dandenong, Moorabbin, Caulfield, Cranbourne, Frankston and Pakenham.

You will work with other population health analysts and project teams and provide authoritative analysis, advice and research on all matters related to population health planning. You will be the primary source of advice to all program areas on evidence used to inform population health planning and research. Your advice on population health planning will be considered and timely. You will be a highly energised individual who thrives in a dynamic work environment.. What you will bring to the role is your ability to look at numbers and words, interpreting and triangulating these as you develop an understanding of what this data may mean in our environment. Whilst exposure to population health planning is desirable, it is not essential

If you have relevant tertiary qualifications in either data analytics, health planning/public health/health admin/health education with an emphasis on data analysis and data management and you believe you have substantial experience working in population health, social sciences, public health or relevant field this role may be ideal for you.

Our key selection criteria

  • Advanced conceptual and analytical skills including the proven ability to use and interpret epidemiological and social planning data.
  • Strong knowledge of research and statistical methodologies and extensive experience in the use of computer software packages to analyse data.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation methods.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills and a proven team player.
  • Proven ability to manage a range of complex tasks concurrently and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to synthesis data from a range of sources (both qualitative and quantitative) to provide a rich understanding of local evidence.
  • Sound general knowledge of the Victorian health care system or ability to quickly obtain this.
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to work.

The roles are initially located in modern offices at Heatherton (Corporate Drive), with regular travel to other SEMPHN sites within the region required.
