About Pro Bono Australia and the Pro Bono Directory

Pro Bono Australia has grown out of the Mahlab Group. The Mahlab Group has been involved in publishing, research and marketing for over 25 years. See 'Contact Us' for details of who we are and who to contact for more information.

The Pro Bono Directory, published by Pro Bono Australia, lists Not for Profit organisations Australia-wide. Organisations are categorised by area of concern (eg. Cancer, Children, Welfare, etc). Its purpose is to guide people wanting to donate or bequeath money to a particular Not for Profit or a range of Not for Profit organisations, or for corporate's looking for a community partner.

The directory is published as a hard copy publication and is also available by clicking on "Directory of Not for Profit organisations" from the menu above.

The hard copy publication is distributed annually, free of charge, to over 56,000 qualified individuals including:

- 46,000 solicitors nationally,
- More than 2,000 accountants and financial planners,
- Senior personnel in the Top 1000 Companies around Australia,
- Will and bequest professionals
- Philanthropic trusts & foundations
- Funeral Directors,
- Local Councils
- Key media contacts, plus
- Major decision-makers and advisors to the community sector

It has been in existence for 16 years and is widely regarded as the premier publication of its type in Australia.

Pro Bono Australia believe that having an online directory is complimentary to the hard copy publication and will not, in the short to medium term, replace the publication. The web has its own unique advantages such as presenting all users with the opportunity to access current and accurate material and data, as changes occur. It also expands the number of people who will use the Pro Bono Directory of Not for Profits Organisations.

We aim to maximise awareness of the Pro Bono Australia web site, by placing links to other relevant, interesting sites which will direct Solicitors, Accountants and Advisers preparing wills to the Pro Bono Directory.

Visitors to the site will be urged to use it as an up to the minute guide to giving and will continue to position and align itself with issues of the common good.
