SHINE Showcase - Evening Launch Event

You’re invited to watch them SHINE! The SHINE Showcase is an exciting new event that focuses on highlighting the abilities of Northcott Disability Service's clients by featuring them in a range of high energy live performances and visual displays. This includes art, photography displays, individual and group performances and engaging videos, all performed by the clients and aimed at celebrating the talent and abilities of people with disabilities.

The clients featured in the SHINE Showcase all attend Northcott's Community Participation Group program in Parramatta which is modelled around a person centred approach to service delivery. This approach highlights choice, and is designed to empower people with disabilities to live the lives they choose. It is this choice that led the clients to request to host an event that showcases their talents and abilities.

 

SHINE will be a unique opportunity to experience first-hand what our Community Participation Program is all about from the perspective of those who use the service.

 

Not only will the clients be the stars of the SHINE Showcase, they are also planning the entire event with limited help from Northcott staff.

 

“SHINE is our chance to showcase some of the fantastic work that we’ve been doing throughout the year. It’s been a fun challenge and a lot of hard work but we feel it’s really paid off,” said Sharrief Elkanj, Northcott client and SHINE Showcase member.

 

"We hope to meet other people and showcase our talent. We hope people can come along so we can show them our talent and celebrate our first showcase and all our hard work through the year!" said Shirley Wong, Northcott client and SHINE Showcase member.
