Asia Pacific Centre for Social Investment & Philanthropy, Swinburne University of Technology, invites you to a forum on:
Social Investment and Philanthropyin the Asia Pacific
Australia is a major contributor to economic and social well-being in the Asia-Pacific.
In a globalised world, national borders do not limit social investment, especially with the continued growth of national diasporas. Grants made and interventions initiated in any country may effect practice or development in Australia. National and cultural difference are always relevant with increasing media attention to fundraising and grantmaking indicates a need to examine social investment practices around our region.
It can be difficult to fund overseas activities especially if using a philanthropic trust or
where a tax-deduction is required. The complexities around funding will be highlighted
and discussed.
Speakers include:
- Christine Edwards, CEO Myer Foundation and Sidney Myer Fund
- Andrew MacLeod, CEO Committee for Melbourne
- Maria Deveson Crabbe, CEO, Marie Stopes International Australia
- Marc Purcell, ED, Australian Council for International Development (ACFID)
Case studies from:
- AusAID and IWDA
Latest research and data on giving will also be presented by APCSIP. Presenters will provide case studies and reports which will inform and strengthen international giving strategies.
