Report Launch 'Business and Human Rights in a Post-Ruggie World'

Join Australia's leading human rights specialists and sustainability practitioners at the launch of a new research report on Managing Human Rights Risk in the ASX 100 followed by an expert panel discussion on Human Rights and business in the Australian context.

Human rights in business is under the spotlight following the June 2011 endorsement by the UN Human Rights Council of the "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Implementing the United Nations 'Protect, Respect and Remedy' Framework" developed by UN Special Representative John Ruggie.

The framework provides a global set of principles and guidance for assessing and addressing the risk of adverse impacts on human rights linked to business activity.

How well prepared are Australian businesses to meet this challenge? While seemingly well equipped through legislation to deal with a number of human rights issues, the media is highlighting on a daily basis the challenges to business of operating in areas of political instability, weak regulatory frameworks and an increasingly mobile workforce.

Join us for the launch of our latest research on the ASX 100, focusing on governance and public disclosure of human rights risk. The launch will be followed by a facilitated panel discussion of the research results, the UN framework and what these mean for Australian business.
