Reforming Fundraising Regulation Conference

Following the success of the 2008 Modernising Charity Law conference, The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies (ACPNS) will host a two day conference on reforming fundraising regulation.

The Ministerial Council on Consumer Affairs (MCCA) is now undertaking a project to harmonise fundraising legislation under the oversight of COAG's Business Regulation and Competition Working Group. MCCA will issue a paper exploring the options for harmonised NFP fundraising laws in early 2011. This paper will explore the arrangements for the administration and enforcement of these laws, as well as their detailed content, and their interaction with the regulatory framework for NFP governance and accountability.

The purpose of the Conference is to bring together regulators, policy makers, scholars and practitioners to review the current state of fundraising regulation and its reform. A panel of international presenters will bring insights from significant jurisdictions around the world. ACPNS research on fundraising regulation issues will also be presented.

Attendance at the conference is FREE, but the BBQ dinner on 19 April at Parliament House will cost $30. Attendance is limited and by invitation only.

If you are interested in attending the conference please contact Professor Myles McGregor-Lowndes by 02 April 2011 via the contact details given below.
