BoardConnect Spring Symposium
The High Performing Board – Making Good Boards Great!

BoardConnect, Queensland’s dedicated service for the boards of non-profit organisations, is planning its first Spring Symposium - three days of thought-provoking workshops and discussions for board members and senior staff of non-profit and arts organisations.

The Symposium will include a wide range of topics related to making the most effective use of board skills and time, and building relationships between board and staff.

Speakers have been drawn from Brisbane’s most respected corporate leaders, as well as from experienced Arts Board members and Executives.

In addition to the many practical sessions available, there is an interactive “Conversation Space” at the end of each day.  These interactive sessions will explore some more general ideas relating to board operations, with highly experienced guest speakers who have “walked the talk”.

Guest speakers will include Mr Tim Cox AO, Chair of Bell Shakespeare, previously Chair of the Australian Ballet and founding Chair of the Australian Major Performing Arts Group; Mr John Reynolds, about to retire as Chair of Arrow Energy, a member of other boards including the Bank of Queensland and previously a member of the Brisbane Powerhouse board; and Mr Des Power, Chair of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and ex-Chair of both Queensland Events and Screen Queensland.

Board members and Executive staff will have the opportunity to listen to new ideas, compare experiences with others in similar situations and enter into robust discussions on issues relating to The High Performing Board.

This Symposium is a “must” for new and experienced Board members, Artistic Directors and Executive Officers who value board development, networking and sharing experiences.

The Symposium is being hosted by DKM in its Board room (Level 4, 179 Grey St, South Brisbane) and other venues across South Bank including the Queensland Conservatorium, Queensland College of Art and the Ship Inn.
