Wills and Bequests

Remembering Victoria’s precious wildlife in your Will is a wonderful legacy to leave. With your help by considering Wildlife Victoria in your Will, many more of our wildlife will be able to be rescued, cared for and release back into the wild for many years to come. A modest gift in your Will can make a big difference to the plight of our native wildlife.

For more information on leaving a bequest in your Will, please contact Amy Amato, Development Manager on 03 9224 4225 or email amy.amato@wildlifevictoria.org.au.

General Donations

Wildlife Victoria is a registered charity. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

All funds received are managed by the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Trust. If your donation is for a specific appeal, or purpose please mark it as such. If you have a query relating to a donation, feel free to contact us via email at donations@wildlifevictoria.org.au.

How are we funded?
Wildlife Victoria is fully funded by public donations. Wildlife Victoria does not receive government funding for its essential service to wildlife.

Where does the money go?
Wildlife Victoria's main expense is the Emergency Phone, our 24 hour emergency phone line for help for injured, sick and orphaned wildlife. We provide subsides for our amazing volunteers who are out there doing the hard work. We also purchase rescue equipment and road signs, sponsor education and training days.

WildFriends Regular Giving Program
As a WildFriend, you can make a real difference. Our wonderful WildFriend supporters give a set donation every month of the year so that our “wild friends” in need can continue to be to be rescued and cared for. Volunteering

Here are some ways that you can volunteer with Wildlife Victoria:

Wildlife Rescuer

Volunteer rescuers respond to calls from the Emergency Phone Service to attend to the rescue of a sick, injured or orphaned native animal. The rescuer assesses the situation and depending on their experience will undertake the rescue or consult with a fellow rescuer or advisor about the case. The rescuer then takes the animal to a licensed wildlife shelter, foster carer or veterinarian.

Wildlife Transporter

Volunteer transporters respond to calls from the Emergency Phone Service to take an animal to a licensed wildlife shelter, foster carer or veterinarian. A Transporter is only required when an injured animal has been contained however still requires transport to its destination.

Wildlife Carer

As a volunteer foster carer you can play a vital and practical role in the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. Caring for wildlife is very different from caring for domesticated animals and it can be very demanding. Volunteers first need to gain experience with wildlife and we recommend that you become a rescuer or transporter first off. In Victoria, the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) grants the licenses necessary to care for native wildlife. Please visit the DSE website for more info www.dse.vic.gov.au.

Wildlife Emergency Response

Emergency Response volunteers predominately work in the area of fires however they occasionally also cover floods, heat stress, marine mammal strandings, oil spills, as well as duck shooting season.
