Mission / Objective

WaterAid is the international non-governmental organisation dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people. These most basic services are essential to life; without them vulnerable communities are trapped in the stranglehold of disease and poverty. WaterAid works by helping local organisations to set up low cost, sustainable projects using technology that the community itself can manage. WaterAid also seeks to influence the policies of other key organisations, to secure and protect the right of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services. WaterAid is independent, relying heavily on voluntary support.

Projects in Progress

WaterAid Australia has on-going projects in Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste. In conjunction with WaterAid UK, WaterAid Australia assists with on-going projects in South Asia and Africa - rural and urban water, and sanitation and health projects in India, Nepal, Ghana and Tanzania.
