Mission / Objective

Victorian Opera's mission is to bring opera to Victorians, developing and showcasing Victorian Artists. Innovation, accessibility and collaboration are all key to the artistic mission. Victorian Opera aims to create work which connects with the widest possible audience; inspiring existing audiences and encouraging new audiences to experience opera. Opera is made accessible through appropriate ticket pricing, education programs and regional touring. Victorian Opera is committed to the creation of new Australian opera - and presents at least one new Australian work each year.

Beneficiary Group

Victorians in Melbourne, outer-metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria, southern NSW. Children of all ages, young adults, seniors, families, general public.

Victorian Opera's 2011 Season features: Viva Verdi! - 18-19 February 2011, Melbourne Town Hall The Magic Flute by Mozart - 16-30 March 2011, Playhouse, the Arts Centre How to Kill Your Husband (and other handy household hints) by John/Daly based on a novel by Kathy Lette - 16-29 May 2011, Merlyn Theatre, CUB Malthouse Albert Herring by Britten - 19-29 July 2011, Playhouse, the Arts Centre Baroque Triple Bill, Monteverdi/Bach - 28 July - 5 August, Melbourne Recital Centre Regional tour throughout Victoria which includes master classes, workshops with schools, Morning Melodies, Gala concert, youth opera and more.

The generosity of Patrons enables Victorian Opera to present critically acclaimed productions, whilst developing the talents of aspiring young artists and reaching the wider community through experiences such as Sing Your Own Opera, Discover Opera and regional touring. Other support

Victorian Opera's Syndicates program is a new initiative that brings together small groups of like-minded individuals, providing an opportunity to support specific Victorian Opera activities.
