Mission / Objective

To collect and preserve for exhibition, such items of steam tram and railway equipment, data and references that are of special historical significance. To operate an accredited tramway for the educational and recreational benefit of the community. To this end, the society operates a Sydney steam tram of the 1890s providing an interpretive display of a mode of public street transport as it was in the ealry 1900s.

Projects in Progress

The society is presently engaged in rebuilding a 1951 replica of a Sydney double-deck steam tram trailer car. These operated in Sydney from 1879 to c. 1890. A number of displays are being assembled to enhance interpretation of various aspects of steam tram history.
