About Donating

The Australian Not for Profit sector is made up of over 600,000 organisations – everything from local neighbourhood watch groups to animal welfare organisations, overseas aid organisations, medical research groups, disability advocacy organisations, protectors of human rights, promoters of equality, champions of the disadvantaged and disenfranchised – there really is a Not for Profit organisation for just about every cause you can think of.

The Not for Profit sector – sometimes referred to as the nonprofit, community, voluntary, social or third sector – is the social fabric that holds our country together.

These organisations (also known as charities) rely on donations from individuals, from corporates, and from trusts and foundations to continue to work towards making Australia – and the world – a better place to be.

The Guide to Giving is a print and online directory of Australia’s Not for Profit organisations. The printed Guide to Giving is distributed each year to 56,000 donors and funding advisors around Australia, encouraging donations and bequests to the hundreds of Not for Profit organisations included.

There is also an online directory made up of interactive profiles for each organisation, allowing them to promote their work, projects, community events, volunteer opportunities, jobs and current fundraising efforts. The online search tool also makes it simple to find and contact a listed charity in a particular state or city or via a specific cause.
