Mission / Objective
Founded in 1919, Save the Children works hand in hand with our supporters to create a world in which every child has a healthy, happy and safe childhood. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn and has a voice to speak for themselves. Save the Children is the world’s leading independent organisation for children, making a difference to children’s lives in over 120 countries.
OUR VISION is a world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation.
OUR PURPOSE is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.
Beneficiary Group
The world's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, both domestically here in Australia and globally in over 120 other countries.

Projects in Progress
Save the Children manages and implements programs designed to save and improve the lives of the world's most disadvantaged and vulnerable children. From emergency relief to long-term development work, we have programs running all across Australia and have offices and project staff in each State and Territory. Globally, we also work in over 120 countries. Each year Save the Children touches the lives of over 80 million children around the world.
Our programs have a focus in six key areas:
- Health & Nutrition
- Education
- Child Protection
- Child Rights Governance
- HIV & AIDS
- Emergency Humanitarian Aid
For example our newborn and child survival campaign, EVERY ONE, aims to prevent the needless deaths of 8 million children who die before their fifth birthdays from preventable and easily treatable causes.

Wills and Bequests
A gift in your Will can save a child's life. Every gift in every Will makes a difference, no matter how big or small. They help us to build a world in which every child has a healthy, happy and safe childhood, the opportunity to learn, and a voice to speak for themselves.
If the time if ever right for you to include a gift to Save the Children in your Will, that would be wonderful. We promise that we will use your gift wisely to make the biggest difference for the children we work with. Please visit our website for more information or contact Ross Anderson, our National Bequest Officer, to request our Gifts in Wills booklet or discuss your wishes in more detail.
