Mission / Objective

SANE Australia, is a national mental health charity, working for a better life for people affected by mental illness through education, research and campaigning for improved services and attitudes. Mental illness is a major health concern for the twenty-first century. Around 20% of Australians will experience some form of mental illness, such as depression, anxiety and schizophrenia, at some stage of their lives. Mental illness does not discriminate, affecting all age groups and populations across the country regardless of socio-economic status.

Projects in Progress

SANE operates the only national 1800 Helpline and Helpline Online on mental illness: 1800 18 SANE. The Helpline provides information, advice and referral. Without government funding, operational costs are wholly supported by donors. Helpline callers also provides information on the experiences of mental illness which is vital to SANE's research.
