Mission / Objective

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) was established in 1848 and was the first Hospital in Victoria. RMH is a leading tertiary teaching hospital, combining education, clinical practice and innovative research to deliver the best possible care to our community. Our educational role involves medical, paramedical, and community outreach programs and we have major research programs in neurosciences, oncology, cardiology, diabetes, emergency and infectious diseases. Research conducted at RMH benefits all sections on the Australian community, and in many cases the benefit is world wide. The hospital manages many significant Clinical and Research. Listed below are just a few of the specialised areas of work undertaken by the various departments within the Hospital.

Projects in Progress

We seek funding for the clinical and research projects and equipment purchases across all Divisions of the Hospital. At present major projects include the establishment of a Clinical Haematology Service, the use of MRI in cancer screening, Schizophrenia and Youth and the ongoing refurbishment of our Catheter Laboratory.
