Royal District Nursing Service

Mission / Objective

Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) is Australia’s largest provider of home nursing care.  We believe that one of the best places to receive healthcare and remain independent is in the comfort and safety of your own home. Visiting homes 24/7 throughout greater Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria and NSW, over 8,000 sick and needy people daily depend on our nurses’ care.  As a result of this care, thousands of people, who otherwise might be confined to a hospital or nursing home, can continue to enjoy all the benefits of remaining in their own homes, retaining their independence and playing an active role in their healthcare.

With an ageing population and shorter hospital stays, the demand for our services is growing daily.  We need to raise funds urgently so that we can continue to provide essential nursing care to the sick in our community, many of whom are disadvantaged, elderly or isolated.

RDNS is an independent non for profit charitable organisation.  We receive approximately 80% of our funding from government and must raise the remaining 20% through our own resources.

RDNS services care for people of all ages and whilst the majority of care is provided at home, we provide care at schools, workplaces and other agreed locations.

Referral to RDNS can come from any source – you can contact us directly buy calling 1300 33 44 55, or be referred by a family member, doctor, or local health service.
