Mission / Objective

The Jewish Museum of Australia (JMA) is a community museum, which aims to explore and share the Jewish experienced in Australia and benefit Australia's diverse society. The Jewish Museum of Australia is committed to being a respected and innovative cultural centre, recognised nationally for its excellence in exhibitions, education programs and collection management. By presenting Jewish culture in fresh and contemporary ways, the Jewish Museum promotes tolerance and understanding of Jewish life and an appreciation of its culture. The Museum's core purpose is to display the creativity of Jewish custom, religion and culture and to share the legacy of Jewish history.

Projects in Progress

Death, Burial and Beyond: 13 September 2005 - 15 January 2006 Looks at how death, dying and grief are experienced, understood and ritualised from a uniquely Jewish perspective. J'Accuse - Alfred Dreyfus: From March 2006 The Dreyfus Affair explores issues of racism and the power of the press. Part of an Australian/NZ tour organised by JMA.
