Mission / Objective

IWDA is an Australian non-profit organisation working with women in developing countries to support their efforts to improve their life choices and those of their families and communities, and to advance women's human rights. We focus on groups of women that are particularly marginalised or suffer poverty or oppression. We focus primarily on the Asia Pacific region on five key areas of wellbeing: *Women's livelihood and economic empowerment *Freedom from violence *Women's participation in decision-making *Sexual and reproductive health and rights *Environment and natural resource management

Projects in Progress

IWDA is currently working on projects concerning post-conflict community building in the Solomon Islands; civil literacy in East Timor; prevention of domestic violence in Fiji; micro-enterprise development in Vietnam; A five-year tsunami reconstruction in Sri Lanka; reproductive health in Vanuatu; legal education of women in Cambodia; prevention of violence against women and the trafficking of women and children; and the education of young women refugees on the Thai-Burma border
