International Association of Infant Massage Aust. Inc

An increasing number of Australians are affected by mental health issues every year. Many early warning signs and risks for child and adult mental illness actually occur during our first year of life...and the vast majority of these triggers are both preventable and reversible. However, for the most part, infant mental health issues typically go un-noticed. As a result, by the time they are two, 20% of all Australian children will show clinical signs of mental health problems (Scott, 2011). Statistically, the risk for an Australian baby experiencing serious infant mental health issues is higher than the risk of SIDS, drowning and cancer combined. Rather than waiting until mental health issues become entrenched, IAIM Australia is dedicated to supporting inidviduals, communities and families to protecting, promoting and restoring the mental health of the hundreds of thousands of Australian babies born every year. We do this by providing evidence-supported programs for families, training, and a variety of resources that support good mental health outcomes in early childhood.
