Care for Street Kids Australia

Mission / Objective

To improve the well being and self-worth of alienated and excluded street children, through unconditional support, whenever and wherever necessary, with the view to reconnecting them with the community. 1. Children living on the streets, whose immediate concerns are survival and shelter. 2. Children who are detached from their families and living in temporary shelters, such as abandoned houses and other buildings, hostels/refuges/shelters, or moving about between friends. 3. Children who remain in contact with their family, but because of poverty, overcrowding, or sexual or physical abuse within the family will spend some nights, or most days on the streets. 4. Children who are in institutional care, who have come from a situation of homelessness and are at risk of returning to a homeless existence. Some salient characteristics about this group include their: - Alienation and exclusion from mainstream structures and systems in society. - Engagement in significant anti social and self destructive behaviour. - Distrust of formalised services, resulting in their under-utilisation of available helping resources. - Existence beyond and below the boundaries of traditional welfare systems.

Projects in Progress

*Assists anyone in the community with special needs. *Just sent 500kg of clothing to the Women's & Girls Emergency Centre in Surry Hills *Just sent 42 tonnes of clothing and linen to hurricane affected areas of Queensland. *We provide street children with support that is responsive to their needs as individuals who lie within an insecure environment, where adult creditability, authority and authenticity is being questioned.
