Mission / Objective

The Cancer Council Tasmania is a community organisation concerned with all aspects of cancer control. Our mission is to minimise the impact of cancer on all Tasmanians.

Projects in Progress

The Cancer Council Tasmania's core programs cover: Support and Information - through four regional cancer support centres and a telephone helpline Research - including hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to Tasmanian researchers each year Health promotion - promoting cancer prevention through healthy lifestyle choices Advocacy - on behalf of Tasmanians affected by cancer Fundraising - to support the above-mentioned programs. New projects in 2006-07 include: a transport and accommodation assistance scheme for rural cancer patients a 'Daffodil Nurse' project to help patients better navigate their treatment path appointment of The Cancer Council Tasmania Research Fellow at the University of Tasmania's Menzies Research Institute. The Cancer Council is always keen to hear from organisations and individuals interested in supporting its ongoing and new programs.
