Australian Platypus Conservancy

Mission / Objective

The Australian Platypus Conservancy is dedicated to the conservation of Australia's unique platypus through a wide range of research and environmental education programs. The Conservancy aims to stimulate long-term action that will both protect existing platypus populations and revitalise degraded freshwater habitats, thereby encouraging platypus to re-establish in waterways where they have declined or disappeared. The APC co-operates with many other bodies, including universities, government agencies and community groups, to ensure that research results contribute to practical efforts to improve waterways. Many volunteers also assist wildlife conservation through hands-on involvement in the APC's research.
